Having trouble finding the ideal gift for that special gamer in your life? Here’s a list of some affordable gift ideas!
It’s only a couple of weeks before it’s Christmas! Have you managed to buy gifts for the special people in your life? If you’re having trouble finding the ideal gift for a fellow gamer, that’s understandable. It’s actually much harder than you may think, especially if you’re on a budget.
It would be great if you have money to burn and you could buy all your buddies a brand new PlayStation 4 or Xbox One (if so, can I be your best friend?). Even buying new games can be problematic since the recipient may own it already or someone else may give that person the exact same title.
There are some gifts, however, that every gamer will want… and they’re not even that expensive!
So, here are six gift ideas for gamers that are actually pretty affordable!
Gaming Prepaid Cards
These make great gamer stocking stuffers. It may seem tacky to give someone “just a gift card” but these things are actually very thoughtful little presents. In my opinion, they may be better than just giving them cash since they can redeem the amount immediately and start buying stuff then and there!
They also come in different denominations so you can buy the one that’ll suit your budget.
Legitimately good controllers
You can never have too many controllers. Scratch that: You can never have too many high-quality controllers!
Have you ever gone to a friend’s house with all your buddies and got saddled with the bad controller? You know, that one controller with the wonky d-pad and with buttons that get stuck?
Or, for you Xbox fans, you’re the unlucky one with the old “Duke” controller? Well, that’s why it’s always a good idea to get really excellent controllers for your friends!
This is a great gift idea, especially if you know you’ll be having a few gaming sessions with that person in the near future. Extra first party controllers are always welcome!
Speaking of good controllers…
N-Control Avenger Controller Adapter
Yes, the Avenger will make your existing controller look like some weird tentacle monster from Japan and it takes some time getting used to all those weird levers. But this is an excellent gift for the FPS fanatic in your life.
All those extra gizmos and thingamabobs on the controller are supposed to decrease reaction time since they give you instant access to the face buttons at all times. And, honestly, they do work!
If you know someone who loves to play Call of Duty or Battlefield or any other FPS, this is probably the best thing to give them.
Yeah, the headsets that came with the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One are awful, to say the least. Oh, I’m glad both Sony and Microsoft decided to include headsets with each console. But they don’t exact scream “quality construction,” do they?
Headsets will probably be standard gaming equipment in the near future since the PS4 and Xbone are really pushing their video streaming and sharing services. You’ll need a good quality microphone to capture your gameplay commentary if you want to be the next Internet superstar!
With all of the hype surrounding the release of Sony and Microsoft’s latest gaming platforms, there was one other console that got lost in the shuffle. No, I’m not talking about the Wii U. I’m talking about the Ouya!
It’s not the most powerful console on the market. In fact, a lot of the games are more on the simple side! But the Ouya is a retro gamer’s dream! The Ouya has different video game emulators that will allow you to play games from as far back as the Atari age!
You can play Pitfall, Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Bonk’s Adventure, Street Fighter II, Dig Dug, Metal Slug, Super Mario 64, Crash Bandicoot and much more on this tiny console!
Not only that, it’s also the most budget friendly console out now! It have a low price tag of $99 and you can try out all of the Ouya’s 500+ library of games for free! How’s that for value?
Most of the items on Geek Chic
This may seem like a shameless plug but, honestly, a lot of the items that are on here are things I’d like to receive as gifts… well, maybe not the N7 Leggings, though (I don’t have gams to pull it off).
In all seriousness, any gamer proud of his or her hobby would want at least one of the products that were featured on Geek Chic. Personally, I wouldn’t mind having a Nintendo GameCube Desk Lamp on my nightstand (hint, hint)!
