Question of the Day: What Was Your Favourite Gaming Year?

When do you think gaming was at its peak or when did you have the most fun?

As we’ve previously shown, 2004 was a pretty good year for video games but there have been plenty of other monumental moments, not to mention the release of not one but two new consoles last November.

When would you say gaming was at its most invigorating or what year’s games were the most fun to play?

I’m cutting/pasting from my own blog, only because I’ve thought about this a lot:

2007. This very well might go down as the best year for new IP of all time. Consider: Mass Effect 1, Bioshock 1, Portal 1 (and the Orange Box, which is still probably the best bang for one’s buck of all time), Call of Duty Modern Warfare 1, Super Mario Galaxy 1, Assassin’s Creed 1, Rock Band 1. Then consider Halo 3 and God of War 2. THEN consider other minor classics like Crackdown and The Darkness. Nothing else even comes close. If the PS4/XONE era gives us a year even half as great as 2007, we’ll be in for a real treat.

2004 for me. It had Jak 3 which is my favorite game ever (and I was glad to see it in your 2004 article when I clicked the link!) and Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal which is pretty high on my all-time list too. So many other strong games that year too.
