Question of the Day: Do Two Game Pre-Order Incentives Go Too Far?

Some content in Destiny can only be unlocked if you pre-order… Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare.

Activision is publishing both Destiny and Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare and is tying both shooters together through pre-order incentives.

If you book a copy of Advanced Warfare at GAME in the UK or GameStop in the US, you’ll unlock a Level 20 Blacksmith Armour Shader in Destiny which will give your character a “gun metal grey, bullet brass yellow and metallic silver” design regardless of what they’re wearing.

Is this a reasonable move or a step too far for pre-order incentives?

Is this for real? As if CoD really needs the push. If they are going to do something this shitty, it should at least be to push a lesser-known game and get some word of mouth going. When EA gave you special gear in Mass Effect 3 for demoing Kingdoms of Amalur it was cool because it cost the player nothing and gave you incentive to try out a really cool game that would have fallen by the wayside otherwise. This is just dumb.

I think this a good level. not big enough to entice people to buy a game they wouldn’t otherwise buy, but just a little extra for people that are getting both anyways. I agree with the KoA comment above though. That was a neat way to encourage players to try new stuff without making them buy something to get it.
