There’s aren’t any new RPGs out there, so I find myself a rebound.
Yesterday, BioWare dropped a new trailer for their upcoming RPG Dragon Age: Inquisition and it was amazing. I was posting “Shut up and take my money” and “My body is ready” GIFs everywhere online. The sad truth is that it wont be out until this fall. It’s even more depressing that there aren’t any new RPGs out there.
People have told me that I should replay my favorite ones, but they clearly don’t know that I’ve already done that. since Additionally, there’s a real special feeling you get when you play a video game for the first time. You don’t know what’s going to happen next and every new development excites you. Sometimes I wish that there was a device that would wipe our memories of the plots in books, video games, films, and television shows just so that we could experience it for the “first time” on several occasions. I’m also not looking for games that already have been released. The feeling of anticipation and complete mystery comes with the experience as well.
Consequently, I found myself a rebound to fill in the void of my heart that yearns for a new RPG experience. I found this upcoming fantasy themed RPG called Bound by Flame and it is developed by Spiders Games, same team behind Mars: War Logs. It will be available on the Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and Xbox 360 platforms. I’ll be getting it on the PS4 just because I need more games for it.
“Bound by Flame puts you in the role of a victim of a demonic influence where you’ll have to choose between the evil powers you’ll be offered or rejecting them in favor of developing heroic talents,” the game’s description reads in a nutshell. You can customize the protagonist, weapons, and armor. It also features companions like most RPGs out there. The developers know that they aren’t making the next Skyrim or Witcher, and they don’t need to be. The only need to be decent enough to tide most of us RPG fanatics over. It’s $1o cheaper and that’s a price I could live with for now.
I mean no disrespect to the developers of the game. Heck, I am buying it after all and I’m happy they can give me something to play in the meantime. While I don’t expect it to win me over to build a fandom, I truly hope that Bound by Flame would be good enough to set them up for bigger projects in the future. It’ll even be good for them if the game turned out to be a “flawed gem” because at least those types of games develop cult followings too.
Here’s a gameplay trailer that could give you a taste of what it’s all about:
The game comes out on May 7th and I’ll be getting my hands on it then. Who knows? This brief fling might turn out into a love affair! If you’re on the fence about this game, I might stream it on Twitch and answer whatever question you might have about it when I get it. We can also discuss our impressions. Let me know if that’s something you guys want to happen.
