It recently emerged that IndieGameMagazine has been charging developers $50 in order to review a game. This is a practice they have now admitted to and is difficult to condone.
While it’s always welcome to get publicity for your game levying a fee has the potential to set a dangerous precedent and while IGM has every right to conduct its business as it sees fit it’s difficult to see how anyone benefits from a practice that actively harms developers and drew significant negative attention to the site.
Gamemoir does not conduct reviews but if you’re an indie, or otherwise, dev looking for a feature on your game we’ll certainly see what we can do to help you out and we’re a volunteer site; so we’d never ask for a monetary contribution.
