Best Game of the First Six Months of This Year?

Now that we’re into July, what’s the best game you’ve come across during the first six months of the year?

The first half of 2014 brought us the disappointing Watch Dogs and the surprisingly good Wolfenstein: The New Order among other releases like Thief, Titanfall, and inFamous: Second Son as well as indie delights like Transistor and remakes such as Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition.

It also introduced us to, um, Goat Simulator.

What’s the best game you’ve encountered so far this year?

  • It’s hard for me to choose between Wolfenstein and South Park, both of which were unexpectedly terrific; I expect both of them to be near the top of my list at year’s end. I’ve also gotta give it up for Jazzpunk, which I found quite wonderful, if a bit flawed.

  • I’m not sure what this says about me or the game industry, but the best game released this year, for me, has been Final Fantasy X HD.
