Question of the Day

Should Other Developers Follow in BioWare’s Pre-Inquisition Cycle?

With almost daily news on Inquisition, are we being spoiled?

Usually twice a week for the past two months or so, BioWare has been revealing information on Dragon Age: Inquisition and its character – usually with a character bio one day and an interview with the write of that character the next.

This stream of information is usual, especially with still so long to go.

There is a lot we don’t know about the game of course but it’s good to see such attention given to the people we’ll be playing alongside.

Should other developers be open about the people who inhabit their game worlds like BioWare, or focus on other information on their game with regular pre-release updates.

I hope not. It feels like a full time job avoiding DA:I news. I decided years ago, about 15 minutes into DA:Origins, that I was going to buy every game in the series. Nothing they announce will make me buy two copies, but that seems to be what they are trying to do. :)

It’s a fine line between wanting to know as much as you can and going in relatively fresh. Good thing about a game like DA:I though is that you can play through a few times to makes sure you see what you might have missed. Game definitely ranks up there as one of my most anticipated for the rest of the year.

I want to know the bare minimum required to decide whether or not to buy a game. If I know a character can be recruited or romanced then it affects how I play and the choices I make. For me, the most enjoyable play-through is the first. That is when the most choices are available. My subsequent play-throughs are all about choosing options that were not selected previously.
